Small repairs in Amsterdam

Small Home Repairs in Amsterdam

Loose door handles, dripping taps, a broken switch or a shelf that won't stay up. Small problems add up, and finding someone who'll come out for a small job, and explain it in English, isn't easy in Amsterdam. I take care of the small jobs that make a home work properly.

What I Fix

Doors & locks

  • Loose or broken door handles
  • Hinge adjustments for doors that stick, drag or won't close
  • Lock cylinder replacement for indoor doors (not front or main entrance doors)

Electrical

  • Light fixtures, pendants and spotlights
  • Light switches and dimmers
  • Sockets and socket covers

Plumbing & bathroom

  • Dripping and leaky taps
  • Shower heads and hoses
  • Toilet seats and flush problems

Boilers (CV-ketel) and major leaks are outside my scope. For those, contact your landlord or a licensed installer.

Save Up Your To-Do List

The call-out includes the first hour, so small jobs are most cost-effective when you bundle them. Keep a list of everything that's been bugging you (the sticking door, the dripping tap, the light that flickers) and I'll fix it all in one visit.

Pricing

Simple and transparent: up to €150 per call-out including the first hour, €60 per extra hour, or €30 if the job runs up to 20 minutes into the next hour. Travel within Amsterdam is free.

Example: a handful of small fixes, like a handle, a tap and a light switch, often fits within the first hour, so €150. A longer list of about 2 hours comes to €210.

It depends on your contract. In many rentals, small repairs like handles, taps and toilet seats are the tenant's responsibility, while bigger issues such as boilers or structural problems are the landlord's. Check your contract, and if it's on you, I can help.

For specific items like a new tap, light fitting or toilet seat, yes. Send me a photo and I'll tell you exactly what to buy. I bring the tools, screws and small fixings.

Yes. Most dripping taps need a new washer or cartridge, which is usually a quick job. Send me a photo of the tap so I can bring the right parts or tell you what to buy.

Yes. I replace switches, dimmers, sockets and covers, and install new light fixtures.

No. I replace lock cylinders on indoor doors, like bedrooms and bathrooms. For front and main entrance doors, which need certified security locks, contact a locksmith or your landlord.
